YOGA FOR YOUTH

2014

Impact Area: Improve Health & Wellbeing

The Hub’s inaugural project focused on holistic intervention addressing the high levels of reported youth violence in East Port of Spain. We believed a holistic health practice would help recalibrate at-risk students towards positive social orientation and community connectedness to enable productive self-expression and stress management, and set about initiating a solution.

MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS

2016 - 2018

Impact Area: Improve Health & Wellbeing; Build Inclusive Communities

The Mental Health Matters (MHM) Project was a three part series of filmed discussions set within the Caribbean context, with the mission of improving dialogue on the causes and potential treatments of relevant mental health issues in our region, by showcasing a range of mental health practitioners and the mechanisms they use to enhance overall quality of life.

MIGRANT COMMUNITY SEED DRIVE

2020

Impact Area: Deliver Basic Needs

The Migrant Community Seed Drive Project was designed to provide additional support to members of the Warao Migrant Community (displaced persons who migrated from Venezuela) through the UNHCR. The drive consisted of generating contributions and tools to purchase agricultural tools and seedlings to contribute to food production, jobs and sustainability of the community.

DON'T HESITATE, VACCINATE

2021

Impact Area: Improve Health & Wellbeing; Strengthen Civic Engagement

During the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic in Trinidad and Tobago,  “Don’t Hesitate, Vaccinate” was a social media campaign series in response to promoting social awareness in achieving

herd-immunity within the population of Trinidad & Tobago.

FOOD FOR YOU

2022

Impact Area: Protect The Planet

In Trinidad and Tobago, over 85% of all food consumed is imported, while Agriculture contributes under 1% to our GDP. Such a heavy dependence on imports to meet the nutritional needs of the population exacerbates environmental, social and economic issues, both locally and on a global scale.

PARANG, PARANG

2022

Impact Area: Build Inclusive Communities

Parang Parang is a local children’s picture book set in Paramin, Trinidad. It was created from a story written by Hub members Anabelle Castagne and Christie Borely for a Global Shapers Community cross-collaboration with the Global Shapers Munich Hub  that aimed at showcasing cultures around the world.

BURNOUT TO BALANCE

2023

Impact Area: Improve Health &  Wellbeing

Burnout has become a common experience for many individuals in our community, yet there has been limited discussion about proactive approaches, identifying its signs, and managing it effectively.

​

In honour of Mental Health Awareness Month, our hub hosted a panel discussion featuring experienced therapists and mental health professionals as they lead a conversation on combating burnout.

CLIMATE CONNECT

2024

Impact Area: Protect the Planet

Climate Connect brings a modern and optimistic spin to climate networking by using rounds of discussions guided by thought-provoking questions, to strengthen youth engagement in climate action.

UPTT - Unlocking Potential: Empowering Youths for a Brighter Future

2024

Impact Area: Reskill for the Future

In Trinidad and Tobago, our youth are facing critical challenges that demand urgent attention. Secondary school dropout rates are on the rise, while university applications are declining. Many of our bright young minds feel disheartened by the limited job prospects, soaring unemployment rates and the crime situation within our nation. But amidst these challenges lies an opportunity for transformation. We were committed to working with students to offer guidance and mentorship that enable them to access opportunities for their future advancement and career development

Bridging the Gap - From Classroom to Career

2024

Impact Area: Reskill for the Future

'Bridging the Gap' was in collaboration with the CARICOM Youth Ambassadors. Empowering youths through personal and professional development. With 30 participants across Trinidad and Tobago, essential skills like Resume Writing, Interview Skills, Communication and Conflict Resolution are tackled. This program not only reinforces our commitment to youth empowerment but also highlights the importance of strategic partnerships in making a lasting impact.

Bridging the Gap - From Classroom to Career

2025

Impact Area: Reskill for the Future

This initiative built on the success of its 2024 launch, which equipped school-leaving youth with essential soft skills such as resume writing, financial literacy, and conflict resolution. Feedback from participants highlighted a strong demand for continued engagement and deeper support as they transitioned into higher education and the workforce.

The Unmasked Minds: Kids' Mental Health Matters

2025

Impact Area: Improve Health & Wellbeing 

'Unmasked Minds' is a youth-focused initiative committed to addressing the growing mental health challenges faced by adolescents in Trinidad and Tobago. Rooted in communities along the East-West Corridor, the programme creates safe, stigma-free spaces where young people can openly explore their emotions, build resilience, and develop a strong sense of self. Through innovative, youth-centered approaches, Unmasked Minds empowers participants to see mental health not as a weakness, but as a vital of their overall well-being.
